The Art Of A Good Marriage

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end
with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy. It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

Pinks and Purples

Ate Lei just asked me yesterday what my color motif is. I said it's PINK and PURPLE. And then she asked again, what kind of PINK? And what kind of PURPLE?

Truly, there are a lot of shades and hues and saturations (and other color terms) to choose from. So, I am (as always) in the mood of worrying what shades of pink and purple to go for the wedding.

I have researched over the internet on the shades of pink and purple but still end up in a more confused state. Hmm.. What am I to do?

I drew a box (out of nowhere, while updating the FCDA for Maynilad, hehe) and filled them with colors pink and purple. And here's what I came up with. I know not their real "color names" are though. It's just the available colors I have in my MS Excel color palette. Haha!

Anyway, while browsing in the web again, I found this site www.ariadress.com and browsed through their bridesmaid dresses so I would have a new color perspective at hand. And here's what I got in there site:

Aria dresses in raspberry and peony silk shantung.

Dress style 160 in periwinkle silk shantung.

Aria dresses in raspberry and celery silk shantung.

Dress style 160 in lavender silk shantung.

Dress style 160 and 164 flowergirl dress in petal and peony silk shantung.

THESE, basically are my favorites among the shades of pinks and purples.. And which will comprise my wedding color motif. I think I like Raspberry and Periwinkle the most!

Cheers!

I also found this site helpful for those still lost as to what kind of wedding color/s (combinations, that is) and motifs to choose:

souvenir

Buti nalang Ate Lei is very willing to help.. Hmmm...

Tsinelas na cellphone charms..
Kaso, parang pambabae lang siya..
Pwede din siya keychain actually..
Pero dapat dalawa pala siya..
Kasi "can two..."

Tapos lagyan ng wedding verse on top?

Pwede ding candles!

Instead na starfish yung nasa loob
ng glass, slippers nalang..
Pair of slippers din..

Haayss.. Ang hirap mag-isip!!! Hehehe...

Photos from Keepsake Factory.
Sowee..

Ang Tsinelas *baw*

Paksa/ Tema: Tsinelas

Can two walk together unless they have agreed to meet? ~ Amos 3:3

I want carnations in deep pink shade and white roses on my bouquet.

The bouquet may be placed in an abaniko or simanay.

Tied in a purple bow with lavenders on the side.

Kulay ng Pag-ibig

Rosas at Lila ang kulay ng pag-ibig!

Pink symbolizes the femininity, admiration, love, pretty, spring, gentleness, harmony, fidelity, and sensuality. It is an innocent, sweet, and soft color. ~ LovelyWed

Brighter pinks are youthful, fun, and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red; they are sensual and passionate without being too aggressive. Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and the blush of a young woman's cheeks. It's not surprising that when giving or receiving flowers, pink blossoms are a favorite. Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. For women who are often overworked and overburdened, an attraction to pink may speak of a desire for the more carefree days of childhood. ~ SensationalColor

Pink is a pale red color that was first recorded in the 17th century to describe the pale red flowers of pinks, flowering plants in the genus Dianthus. This color stands for beauty, grace and goodness. Pink itself is a combination of red and white. Other tints of pink may be combinations of rose and white, magenta and white, or orange and white. ~ Wikipedia

Purple shows nobility, royalty, luxury, authority, creativity, inspiration, and spirituality. It is a mysterious and intriguing color. The darker shades of purple represent sensuality, while the lighter shades of purple represent romance and delicate. ~ LovelyWed

Lavender or floral lavender or lavender magenta may both be used to symbolize decadence, in the sense of a lifestyle devoted to sensual enjoyment of sex, drugs, and rock and roll music (according to taste, some may prefer opera or classical music) , sumptuous art with rich colors and complex Byzantine-like designs, rich gourmet food, and fine wine. The 1980 book Decadence: The Strange Life of an Epithet by Richard Gilman has a book jacket colored floral lavender and the interior paper of the inside front and back covers of the book is colored floral lavender. The tops of the pages are tipped in the color floral lavender. The 1972 book Dreamers of Decadence by Philippe Jullian (about the decadent movement in art in the late 1800s in Europe) has the spine of the book jacket colored the color described above as lavender magenta. ~ Wikipedia

INVITATION

Our invitation is in Tagalog/ Pilipino (to comply with our theme).

I am yet to consult Ate Elaine Clemente for possible ways to improve what I have done and other things I can do with the invitation to make it more Filipiniana.. As of now kasi, wala pa talagang Filipiniana aspect eto. Maybe, I'll just have a sinamay envelope for this. I also plan to print this on a pink "organic" paper (I don't know what you call them, pero these are yung mga tipong paper ng papemelroti.. I saw one in Landmark Trinoma and in National Book Store). And add a few accessories on the side. Hehe.. That's it! :)

Siguro parang ganito:

One page invitation (invitation lang talaga ang nakalagay, what, where, when stuff), tapos sinamay ang cove/ envelope...

Or...

Scroll type kaya?..

Hmm...

SAVE THE DATE CARD

Since our wedding verse is Amos 3:3, I want our Save the Date Cards with something to remind people about this, something such as footprints or a pair of tsinelas. So we decided something like this for our STDs:

That's all, thank you!

Kundiman

Kundiman (originally spelled Cundiman) is a genre of traditional Filipino love songs. The lyrics of the Kundiman are written in Tagalog. The melody is characterized by a smooth, flowing and gentle rhythm with dramatic intervals. Kundiman was the traditional means of serenade in the Philippines.

The Kundiman came to the fore as an art song at the end of the nineteenth century and the early part of the twentieth, when Filipino composers such as Francisco Santiago and Nicanor Abelardo (born February 7, 1893, death March 21, 1934 ), formalized the musical structure and sought poetry for their lyrics, blending verse and music in equal parts.
