Color Palettes

Some color palettes generated from Big Huge Labs Palette Generator (really amazing stuff there, thanks!):

Our first motif really was pink and green. But then I decided it would be charming to just mix two of my favorite colors, pink and purple. So green have to be left behind. And besides, Bonsai Garden is green in itself, we just have to accentuate the greenness of the surroundings with our pinks and purples.

Below are the more pinks and purples that we're talking about:

Pinks and Purples

Ate Lei just asked me yesterday what my color motif is. I said it's PINK and PURPLE. And then she asked again, what kind of PINK? And what kind of PURPLE?

Truly, there are a lot of shades and hues and saturations (and other color terms) to choose from. So, I am (as always) in the mood of worrying what shades of pink and purple to go for the wedding.

I have researched over the internet on the shades of pink and purple but still end up in a more confused state. Hmm.. What am I to do?

I drew a box (out of nowhere, while updating the FCDA for Maynilad, hehe) and filled them with colors pink and purple. And here's what I came up with. I know not their real "color names" are though. It's just the available colors I have in my MS Excel color palette. Haha!

Anyway, while browsing in the web again, I found this site www.ariadress.com and browsed through their bridesmaid dresses so I would have a new color perspective at hand. And here's what I got in there site:

Aria dresses in raspberry and peony silk shantung.

Dress style 160 in periwinkle silk shantung.

Aria dresses in raspberry and celery silk shantung.

Dress style 160 in lavender silk shantung.

Dress style 160 and 164 flowergirl dress in petal and peony silk shantung.

THESE, basically are my favorites among the shades of pinks and purples.. And which will comprise my wedding color motif. I think I like Raspberry and Periwinkle the most!

Cheers!

I also found this site helpful for those still lost as to what kind of wedding color/s (combinations, that is) and motifs to choose:

Kulay ng Pag-ibig

Rosas at Lila ang kulay ng pag-ibig!

Pink symbolizes the femininity, admiration, love, pretty, spring, gentleness, harmony, fidelity, and sensuality. It is an innocent, sweet, and soft color. ~ LovelyWed

Brighter pinks are youthful, fun, and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red; they are sensual and passionate without being too aggressive. Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and the blush of a young woman's cheeks. It's not surprising that when giving or receiving flowers, pink blossoms are a favorite. Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. For women who are often overworked and overburdened, an attraction to pink may speak of a desire for the more carefree days of childhood. ~ SensationalColor

Pink is a pale red color that was first recorded in the 17th century to describe the pale red flowers of pinks, flowering plants in the genus Dianthus. This color stands for beauty, grace and goodness. Pink itself is a combination of red and white. Other tints of pink may be combinations of rose and white, magenta and white, or orange and white. ~ Wikipedia

Purple shows nobility, royalty, luxury, authority, creativity, inspiration, and spirituality. It is a mysterious and intriguing color. The darker shades of purple represent sensuality, while the lighter shades of purple represent romance and delicate. ~ LovelyWed

Lavender or floral lavender or lavender magenta may both be used to symbolize decadence, in the sense of a lifestyle devoted to sensual enjoyment of sex, drugs, and rock and roll music (according to taste, some may prefer opera or classical music) , sumptuous art with rich colors and complex Byzantine-like designs, rich gourmet food, and fine wine. The 1980 book Decadence: The Strange Life of an Epithet by Richard Gilman has a book jacket colored floral lavender and the interior paper of the inside front and back covers of the book is colored floral lavender. The tops of the pages are tipped in the color floral lavender. The 1972 book Dreamers of Decadence by Philippe Jullian (about the decadent movement in art in the late 1800s in Europe) has the spine of the book jacket colored the color described above as lavender magenta. ~ Wikipedia
