A Much Needed Update

*Sighs*

Grabe, isang malalim na sigh talaga. Antagal ko nang di na-update to. Daming ginagawa. Although hindi wedding preps related. Mostly, work at other things. Hehe.

Anyway, ano na bang mga nagawa?

Flowers. Well, we already went to Dangwa. We decided to get Emma's Flowershop services for the flowers for the entire entourage. Umabot ng P5,000.00. Although mura na talaga siya, kasi it includes my bouquet, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, primary sponsors and flower girls. We need to make downpayment on the first week of December.

Food. Uhm, the food is still malabo until now. Because it would really be tedious for us to actually do the arranging of Bonsai Garden the night before (or very early morning, mga 1AM), we (together with Ninang Maq and Ninong Armin) decided to get a catering service. Problem is, wala pa kaming mahanap. We'll be needing their tables and chairs plus of course the decoration and the food. Although and food nga namin will just be coffee and hot chocolate over pandesal and kakanin. We talked to Ate Bee already kasi may mga contacts siya ng mga affordable catering services. Sana keri pa ng budget. Hehe. Kasi I have another expense, yung pamasahe ng family ko papunta dito sa Manila.

Pre-nup. This is really something to thank God for. Sobrang thankful kami for Kuya Chris and Ate Annelle. They did our pre-nup (for FREE) last Saturday and Sunday. Supposedly Saturday lang siya pero kinulang ng oras, because I was late (sorry), kaya na-extend hanggang Sunday morning. My make-up was done by Ate Mikay nung Saturday, while my Sunday make-up was made possible by Ate Annelle (grabe talaga ang serbisyo). Sobrang thank you po! Looking forward for the pics! Hehe.. Nakita ko na yung iba, at sobrang nakakaaliw, parang hindi kami. Haha! Can;t wait to see them! :)

House. Yes, nakalipat na ako ng house. Hindi kasi pumayag yung aking landlady sa Area 2 na mag-stay ako dun hanggang December lang. Alanganin daw kasi midsem yun; kung gusto kong magstay ng hanggang December lang, kelangan kong maghanap ng kapalit. So, instead na si Derf ang lilipat dun sa bagong house, ako nalang. Madami pang kelangang ayusin sa bahay *sighs*. Pero unti-unti, at least naaayos naman.

Hmm.. Yun lang muna. Wala na akong ibang maisip. Hehe. I'll update as soon as I can.

First Session

Last Saturday, we had our first counseling session with Manong Bel (Pastor Bel to others). He is our church's Senior Pastor and will be the one to officiate our wedding. We've had problems before with his schedule on December 28 and feared that he might not be able to officiate our wedding. We even already talked to Kuya Jong to officiate, we even scheduled already our counseling sessions. But upon returning to his US trip, he (Manong Bel, that is) told us to not close the matter yet. And so, our first pre-marital counseling session began. Hehe.

3:00 PM at the Bonsai Garden (our wedding venue, hehe). We studied the Genesis account of marriage, gender equality and leadership. This covers Genesis 1 and 2. We read what would be the passage for our wedding, Genesis 2:18-25 ---

18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman,'

♥ Egalitarian Thesis:
.....1 - Both were created in His own image
.....2 - The ruling over other creatures was given to both, i.e., "said to them"
.....3 - The filling of the earth (multiplication) was given to both.
.....4 - Eve is the only suitable partner for Adam: Only woman can provide him the human fellowship and only another human is capable of personal fellowship with the Maker. "Suitable" means face to face; "Helper" means hindi utusan na katulong but katulong na deliverer/ rescuer.
.....5 - They are both made from the same stuff "bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh". Adam is a passive participant, not the maker of Eve.
.....6 - Both are to leave their parents.

♥ On Leadership: Man is the leader of the household. Although God created man and woman equally, He designed man to lead. Adam expressed his authority when he named her "woman" on 2:23 and "Eve" on 3:20.

♥ Equality needs to be affirmed; man to be a leader.

Pinks and Purples

Ate Lei just asked me yesterday what my color motif is. I said it's PINK and PURPLE. And then she asked again, what kind of PINK? And what kind of PURPLE?

Truly, there are a lot of shades and hues and saturations (and other color terms) to choose from. So, I am (as always) in the mood of worrying what shades of pink and purple to go for the wedding.

I have researched over the internet on the shades of pink and purple but still end up in a more confused state. ☺ Hmm.. What am I to do?

I drew a box (out of nowhere, while updating the FCDA for Maynilad, hehe) and filled them with colors pink and purple. And here's what I came up with. I know not their real "color names" are though. It's just the available colors I have in my MS Excel color palette. Haha!

ika-19 ng Setyembre 2008

Grabe, ngayon ko lang ulit nakita ang wedding countdown ko, ang lo and behold, 99 days na lang pala? Tama ba ang bilang ng counter na to??? Haays.. Tama naman ata.. Grabe, akalain mo yun, ang bilis talaga ng panahon. At 99 days na lang pala, hindi ako aware.. Kung gusto ko talagang matuloy ito, kelangan ko nang ayusin ang marami pang bagay. Up to now, wala pa din kaming P/V, HMUA, Tables/Chairs Rental, at hindi pa clear kung saan kukunin yung mga food, pati yung arrangement sa sound system (Since Sunday siya, kakailanganin ng Tagalog service ang sound system by 7:30 AM, so dapat matapos kami lahat-lahat ng 7:30 AM? Eh may reception pa after?). Bakit nga ba wala na kaming nagawa since April this year? Kasi yung last na accomplishment yata namin was when we planned for a lot of things last April, tapos after nun, wala na.. At wala pa pala kaming ring! Although meron na kaming arrangement regarding this.. Ano pa ba?.. Hmm, wait nga, ano nga ba ang major suppliers/ needs sa wedding?..

Church --- No need, since we're having a garden wedding anyway..

Reception --- UP Bonsai Garden, dito na gagawin lahat, ceremony and reception.. Super salamat kay Mang Mody for accommodating us!

Food --- Since hindi kami magpapacater, we have to take care of this. Anyway, Ninang Maq and Ninong Armin naman already talked to us regarding this, pero wala pang finalization. We should talk to them again this weekend for this. Food kasi would be coffee, pandesal and kakanin (at the least). I was thinking na din of getting a coffee catering para less hassle yung pagbrew ng mga coffee, and everything, since of course Ninang Maq and Ninong Armin will be at the ceremony (they're our ninong/ninang, hehe). Anyway, I found out a coffee catering that can serve 100 coffee (variety) for 8K with 2 baristas on the side. For the kakanin, we need to look for possible sources of this food. Hehe. I was thinking of Dolor's Kakanin in Malabon, but I haven't contacted them yet, that would be an action item then. I also had list of various kakanin supplier whom I can contact, or shall I say, I should contact! For the pandesal, Derf is really fond of the pandesal of a local bakeshop in UP where he buys his morning bread. He already talked to the person there (hmm, sino kaya dun) about our plan to order at least 300pcs of pandesal for December 28. They said ok naman daw. I don't know what else we could include or if there is really something else we could add to this menu.

Photographer/ Videographer --- Until now, we still haven't got this one. We're really on a tight budget that's why we're having a hard time deciding who to get, someone who's relatively cheap but has a good quality naman.. At ang hirap yata talagang maghanap ng ganito ang requirement! That's why up to now, we still have not gotten any... Although, we already "contracted" our churchmates, Paolo and Ate Ada be our back-up photographers.

OTD --- On the day coordinator. Ate Mikay is our official OTD. Actually, not really OTD but our wedding coordinator!

Invitations --- Wedding Invitation is part of my DIY project, although until now, wala pa talaga akong nasisimulan kahit isa! So, we're really behind with this, considering na this should already be distributed by October. Kumusta naman di ba, September 19 na ngayon, ilang araw nalang October na. Mahahabol pa naman siguro. Overtime sa pagdi-DIY. Hehe..

Ceremony and Reception Musicians --- The Sunset Music Team! Haha! For free ang service care of Manong Butch, pero I will treat them sa isang eat-all-you-can somewhere, hehe.. Maybe, after the wedding. Or before, I don't know.

Emcee --- Ms. Sarah Balbuena. Hehe. Thank you so much! Free din (free nga ba Sa, hehe?). Sama ko nalang siya sa treat with the Music Team. Hehe. Together with Paolo and Ate Ada and Ate Mikay! Haha! (wow, dami ko nang pinagkakautangan pala.. hehe..)

Bridal Gown --- My bridal gown was courtesy of Ate Joy Quiwa naman. Very generous in letting me use it. Hehe. Super thank you po! When you get back, you can remind me to treat you somewhere, hehe.

Entourage Gowns/ Attire --- My entourage gowns are kinda buy your own, hehe. Guys, I'm really sorry for the abala and all. Pero di talaga kaya budget. :( Although, I might need to buy one or two or three or more (?) for my mother, my father, my lola, my sister flower girl, my brothers ring bearer and coin bearer, and my bridesmaid sister and on Derf's side. Whew! So, gagastos pa din pala ako. Haha! Pero, i'll buy them these stuffs when they get here sometime this December, sa Divi sana. Haays, sana hindi pa super crowded and Divi by this time, with all the Christmas season going on. Hehe.

Hair and Make-up Artist --- This is one of my luxuries. Hehe. Kasi Ate Mikay can do the make-up, kaso ayoko namang super i-exploit siya, kasi malamang she'll be doing a lot of things by this time and baka siya din mag make-up ng entourage. So, I decided to have a hair and make-up artist for me (and 2 others, depende sa package). I found Mel Cruz while me and Kristina are browsing through a lot of web pages looking for an affordable HMUA. Although, once ko palang nakausap si Mel, and hindi ko pa talaga siya napa-book. I might also schedule a trial hair and make-up with her. Kaso I have to set this with my pre-nup (kung meron man) para hindi naman siya "sayang". I have to thank Ms. Kristina Mendoza for helping me with this, and for volunteering to help me beyond what I asked her to do for me. Mwah Mwah!

Flowers --- Very popular sa W@W si Mang Boy Mahusay from Dangwa. Pero up to now, di ko pa din siya natatawagan! Wake-up Salve! In case lang na hindi na siya available by that time, sana may mahanap akong iba. Huhuhu.

Souvenirs --- Our souvenirs is also one of my supposed DIY project na (super thanks talaga!) inako ni Ate Lei at ni Kuya Arvin. Touched ako!.. Pero I'm super willing to help sa production.

Rings --- The all-to-important symbol. Hehe. Ala pa din kami rings, imagine! Pero, yeah, we decided na pag wala talaga kami makita (although we saw one sa Goldenhills Jewelry na we both love at meron pang kasamang lifetime cleaning and something-something, hehe, kaso it's 30K although relatively mura na siya, kaso at this time na super dami pang kelangang ayusin, I'm just not sure kung kakayanin namin siya) well, we'll just buy a cheaper ring na lang muna for now. We'll just buy a more expensive one pag we're married na, siguro sa aming first year anniversary. Haha!

Tables and Chairs Rental --- Isa sa mga kakailanganin namin sa Bonsai is tables and chairs with covers (para magmukha namang wedding talaga). At dahil hindi kami magpapa-cater, kaya mejo isa sa mga problem namin to. May mga nakausap na kami for this, the most recent pa nga was during Mariel's (of Ate Elaine and Kuya Marlon) 1st birthday. Kaso, not yet final, cause we haven't talked to her about this pa. Actually, this is one of Derf's tasks. Hehe.

Reception Decorations --- Syempre, we might also do the decorations for the reception, pero most probably the night before, since very early morning ang aming wedding. I'll just ask people (or Derf will, since siya naman magaling sa asking, hehe) who can help us with this.

Lights and Sounds --- Hmmm.. This could be a problem actually. Kasi we're planning to use the "sound system" of the church, ang kaso we'll be having a problem with yung availability niya since kelangan siya for the Tagalog Service ng 7:30AM. Which means, we should already be finish by then! Haha! At sounds lang pala yun, yung lights, uhm... Hmm.. Kanino kaya???

That's it! May nakalimutan pa ba ako? I guess eto lang naman (haha, pag may nakalimutan ako, I'm really dead, haha!)

Green - Almost sure na, kelangan na lang ng polishing, hehe..

Haayss.. Super lapit na.. Isipin mo yun, 3 months and 17 days.. Kumusta naman.. Ang invitation, well, ayun, for production pa lang.. I guess mamimigay na nga lang kami muna ng Save the Date cards para naman hindi akalain ng mga tao na hindi na tuloy, dahil hanggang ngayon wala pa din silang natatanggap na invitation.. Sobrang dami pang kelangan i-polish.. Mga importante at di gaanong importanteng bagay..

Minsan tuloy naiisip ko, mas madali nga siguro ang civil wedding, hehe.. Hindi gaanong hassle.. Wala masyadong mga kelangang isipin.. Punta ka lang sa judge, tapos na! Haha..

Gaya nga ng napag-usapan din namin nung kinita namin si Kuya Arvin, actually, and seremonyas ay seremonyas lang, mas mahalaga ang "marriage", hindi ang "wedding".. Mas mahalaga ang magiging buhay pagkatapos ng kasal kesa sa sermonyas ng kasal mismo..

Madami kaming gustong mangyari syempre, maraming plans.. Pero madami din kasing limitations, mga realidad na kelangang i-consider.. Tulad ng pera, ng panahon, ng kung ano-ano pa..

September 11 na.. Gaya ng sinabi ko, 3 buwan at 17 araw nalang bago mag December 28.. Gaano ba katagal ang 3 buwan at 17 araw?.. Parang ang bilis lang kasi ng takbo ng oras ngayon eh..

Minsan, mas masarap isipin na tapos na, na December 29, 2008 na ngayon, o kaya na 2009 na ngayon.. Pero syempre, kapag ganun, hindi ko na sasabihin tong mga to.. Haha!

STD Card dilemma

Ngayong madami na akong ideas about our Save the Date Cards, bigla tuloy akong naguluhan.. Hindi na ako makapili kung ano na final STD ko.. Waaah! Kelangan ko na tong mabigay this weekend especially sa mga makikita ko sa church for the very simple reason na September na!.. Haha!..

Just watched High School Musical 2 yesterday.. Na-enjoy ko siya (kasi musical).. Haha! At kahit mejo mababaw lang ang story, at madaming corny parts, (haha) naaaliw pa din ako.. Tama nga naman di ba?.. Pano nga ba naman makalalakad ang dalawang tao kung yung isa eh papuntang kanan at yung isa naman papuntang kaliwa? Hind pwede yun! Kailangang sa bawat hakbang sila ay nagkakasundo. At iyon ang magiging susi ng isang magandang samahan.

Ang tsinelas ay hindi magiging tsinelas kung isang pares lamang. Bumalik sa akin ang isang kuwento kung paanong si Dr. Jose Rizal noong siya ay bata pa lamang ay inihagis sa ilog ang isang kapares ng kanyang tsinelas pagkatapos tangayin ang kapares nito. Ang dahilan, kung sakali man daw na may makakita ng tsinelas na tinangay ng agos, mabuti nang makita din niya ang kapares nito at magamit, kesa manatili sa kanya ang isang kapares ng wala naman ng kabuluhan.




Bakit tsinelas? Dahil nais naming sa panibagong buhay na aming tatahakin, kami'y patuloy na ma-remind ng mga magagandang aral ng isang tsinelas. Ang paghakbang ng magkasama. Ang pagiging isa, bagama't kami'y dalawa: Bagama't ang tsinelas ay isang kanan at isang kaliwa, magkasama nilang sinusuong ang landasin ng nagdadala sa kanila. DIY: Do-it-Yourself!


Dahil we're on a tight budget, we're planning to DIY some stuffs (actually, most of the stuffs pala, hehe).. Here's a collection of the things that we've done so far..

Save the Date (STD) Card


Bale, eto na yung final version. We had various options and this was the third one, and pinakamalapit sa aming Filipiniana theme. Mejo binago ko lang yung kulay ng background from pink, to white, para mas kita.. Ginawa ko nalang purple yung kulay ng tsinelas..

Actually, meron pa nga akong ginawang STD (ngayon ko lang na-realize para siyang yung STD na sakit!) sa Scrapblog ko eh, na sort of invitation na din.. Anyway, I plan to email nalang the people for this, kasi wala nang time.. Hehe..




Will You Be Card

Ang Will You Be card naman ay para sa aming mga entourage (supposedly). Pero hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa rin napiprint at napapamigay, so malamang, email na din ang punta ng mga to. Newei, here they are:
